So I’m feeling slightly dramatic… 😉
I was reading one of my favorite books to Sophie earlier – Dr. Seuss’ “Oh, the places you’ll go”. I received it as a graduation gift from a HS teacher/friend/second-mother, etc… (love you Sherree!) Anyways, I love pulling it out even 7 years later and still reading through it…there is always some point in the book that I can relate to. I can find peace and understanding in the funniest places. Here’s what it says:
“You can get so confused that you’ll start in to race down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space. Headed, I fear, toward a most useless place. The waiting place.”
It goes on to say that the “waiting and staying” place isn’t for you and once more you’ll be on your way – oh, the places you’ll go (or run. 😉 ) I was reminded of this Bible verse…
“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. -Acts 20:24”
I consider myself to be in a “waiting” place right now. Still trying to nurse a leg injury and not running. I have pity parties and hate that I can’t run. Reading the verse from Acts really put things in perspective for me tonight. I may not be running in the physical sense right now…but I’m always running the race in the spiritual sense. And honestly, that’s the only race that matters. I’m far from perfect, but I do hope and pray that my life reflects God’s glory and grace. I thank Him every day for giving me a passion for a healthy lifestyle and strong legs!
So like the book says, once more I’ll be on my way!
