This might be the only picture I have of them playing nice. Maverick is in Pepper’s spot.

Rat Pack on Idol

In Uncategorized on April 29, 2009 at 7:24 pm

So last night was Rat Pack standards on American Idol. I’m not gonna lie, I was way nervous for our Top 5. For the most part, they delivered. Matt is still my favorite, and I’m not really sure why. I thought he did amazing last night. But my hat is off for Danny Gokey. I was like HOLY GOKEY BATMAN!!! haha. I wanted to give him a standing ovation in my living room. I did refrain, but I was certainly clapping for him. (like he could see me) 🙂 He sang “Come Rain or Shine” and nailed it. It’s up there with my ALL time favorite Idol performances, yes, outta all 8 seasons.
My prediction: Kris, Matt, & Allison – bottom 3. *crossing fingers* Allison is sent home.
This is the first season that I have loved (for the most part) each top 5 contestant. It’s gonna be hard seeing any one of them go home. Anybody else smell a Gokey/Lambert showdown at the finale?? We’ll see in 3 weeks…

A friend posted this video on Facebook and I just now watched it. I thought it was very moving. The song is by LeAnn Rimes called “What I Cannot Change”.

This was part of Taylor’s Christmas present from his parents. He wanted a shadow box made to remember his years spent at Camp Lejeune, NC. Thanks mom for doing such an amazing job!!!

Maverick and his new favorite spot. He sleeps there most of the time now. Not sure what the deal is…haha.

I love this picture…I took this just now of Pepper. (Sorry about my toes…lol)

Happy Birthday To You:

In Uncategorized on April 22, 2009 at 11:57 pm
By Webster’s Dictionary:

Friend: noun
“a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard.”
I can count on one hand the friends that I would take a bullet for. My dear friend Lindsay Trinkle being on of them. You might have heard me refer to her as “trink”, I’ve called her that for as long as I can remember. I consider her more of a sister than a friend. Her birthday is tomorrow (April 23rd) and I wanted to take a second to wish her a Happy Birthday!!
I’ve known Trink for over 13 years. We have been blessed and lucky enough to stay best of friends throughout our adult years as well. My family considers her their other adoptive child. We’ve grown up singing together, playing sports together, going to church, babysitting together, having sleepovers, going to concerts, we’ve shared many laughs and tears over the years. Trink was there during my lonliest nights (when Taylor was deployed the first time). She is always good for a laugh or a shoulder to cry on. She is one of the most sweetest, giving, and most selfless person I know. So here’s to you Trink, I hope this year brings you happiness and joy. I’m a better person because of your friendship. Love ya girl!!

Somewhere in the middle…

In Uncategorized on April 7, 2009 at 4:15 pm

I’ve had a LOT on my mind lately. The Lord I feel is really working on my heart. I’ve struggled with whether or not to post this, to others it may seem silly or non-important. But to me it’s been a struggle and I’ve seen parts of me that I am not happy with. So I’m gonna blog a little bit about me, personally. I know as a Christian, the Lord is always making and molding me.
When I graduated highschool, I received a book from a dear friend and mentor of mine. The book was Dr. Suess’ “Oh, The Places You’ll Go”. I came across that book the other day and decided to read through it again. There is a part in the book that brought me to tears, because I thought “this is so where I am in life right now”. It goes like this…

Except when you don’t. Because sometimes you won’t. I’m sorry to say so but sadly it’s true, that Bang-ups and Hang-ups can happen to you. You can get all hung up in a prickle-ly perch. And your gang will fly on. You’ll be left in a Lurch. You’ll come down from the Lurch with an unpleasant bump. And the chances are then, that you’ll be in a slump. And when you’re in a slump, you’re not in for much fun. Un-slumping yourself is not easily done. You will come to a place where the streets are not marked. Some windows are lighted. But mostly they’re darked. A place you could sprain both your elbow and chin! Do you dare to stay out? Do you dare to go in? How much can you lose? How much can you win? And IF you go in, should you turn left or right…or right-and-three-quarters? Or, maybe, not quite? Or go around back and sneak in from behind? Simple it’s not, I’m afraid you will find, for a mind-maker-upper to make up his mind. You can get so confused that you’ll start in to race down long wiggled roads to a break-necking page and grind on for miles across weirdish wild space, headed, I fear toward a most useless place. The Waiting Place….(this is me) for people just waiting. Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come, or a place to go or the mail to come, or the rain to go or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow or waiting around for a Yes or No or waiting for their hair to grow. Everyone is just waiting. Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite or waiting around for Friday night or waiting, perhaps, for the Uncle Jake or a pot to boil, or a Better Break or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants or a wig with curls, or Another Chance. Everyone is just waiting. NO!! That’s not for you! Somehow you’ll escape all that waiting and staying. You’ll find the bright places where Boom Bands are playing. With banner flip-flapping once more you’ll ride high! Ready for anything under the sky. Ready because you’re that kind of guy! Oh, the places you’ll go…

That’s not the whole book…lol. It goes on to say that you’ll move mountains and your mountain is waiting, so get on your way… After reading those passages, I was reminded of a few verses in my Bible…verses that were hopeful to me.

For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11

Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this moutain, Move from here to there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. – Matthew 17:20-21

So, if you think about it, just say a prayer for me. I know my Lord has a plan for my life, I’m still just trying to figure it out. He has already blessed me beyond what I deserve.

And, I love each and every one of you!

More D.C.

In Uncategorized on April 7, 2009 at 12:54 am

Almost 5 years ago I visited D.C. for the first time with my best friend (and our mothers). I was 18, she was 16. Hailey is graduating college next month and I couldn’t be more proud of her!! Anyways, she was up in D.C. for a couple of days last week, so ofcourse I had to spend a few days with her. We had fun roaming all over the city again. I got some great shots of the Cherry Blossoms, etc…

Hailey and I at the WWII memorial.

We went over the Iwo Jima memorial. Took these shots in B&W, didn’t realize it at the time. But I think they turned out awesome.

Does this make me official??

In Uncategorized on April 2, 2009 at 11:20 pm

My Metro pass.
It makes me feel all official when I go through the Metro stations and just have to swipe it, instead of standing at the ticket machines…ok…does that make me weird?
